Cookie Policy
Effective 14 September 2026 · Version 1.0
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies we use, what each one is for, and how to opt out.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They let a site remember things about you. Similar technologies include tracking pixels, which are tiny invisible images used to record that you opened an email or visited a page, and fingerprinting, which recognises your device by its characteristics rather than by storing a file.
2. What currently runs, and how to stop it
We want to describe this accurately rather than in the way these policies are usually written.
Strictly necessary cookies are set automatically, because the site cannot work without them.
Analytics and advertising tracking currently begins when you arrive on our site, before you have told us anything. We are changing this so that it only runs once you have agreed to it, and we will update this policy and the date at the top when that change is live.
Until then, you can opt out at any time and we will action it:
- Email info@roseradford.com and ask us to stop. This is the most reliable route. We will remove you from our advertising audiences and add you to a suppression list so you are not targeted again.
- Adjust your advertising preferences inside Facebook or Instagram to limit what Meta shows you.
- Block or clear cookies in your browser settings. Note that this limits the Meta Pixel but will not reliably stop the fingerprinting described in section 5.
3. The categories we use

Analytics and advertising
This is the category that tracks you, and the one described in section 2. It currently runs from the moment you arrive. Email us to opt out.
| Set by | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Meta Pixel | Recording which pages you visit and what you buy, so we can measure our adverts, show you adverts, exclude you from them, and build audiences of similar people | Up to 3 months, renewed on each visit |
| Hyros | Attribution and analytics. Records which advert or link brought you to us and connects your activity across visits and devices, so we can see which adverts lead to sales. Hyros identifies your device by fingerprinting rather than by cookie. See section 5. | Fingerprint is regenerated on each visit. Linked records kept up to 24 months. |
4. Tracking in our emails
Our marketing emails from ActiveCampaign contain a small invisible image and coded links. These tell us whether you opened the email, when, and which links you clicked. We use this to understand what our readers find useful and to stop emailing people who never open anything.
To stop it, set your email program to block remote images, or unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of any email.
5. Device fingerprinting
One of our advertising tools, Hyros, does not use a cookie to recognise you. Instead it reads a set of characteristics from your device and browser and combines them into an identifier. Those characteristics include your screen size and colour depth, timezone, language, browser and operating system version, installed plugins and fonts, and the particular way your device renders graphics and processes audio, together with your IP address.
No single one of those identifies you. Combined, they are distinctive enough to recognise the same device on a later visit. When you later give us your email address through a form, that identifier is linked to you, along with the visits you made before you filled the form in.
We are setting this out in plain terms because fingerprinting deserves it. It is more persistent than a cookie, since clearing your cookies, using private browsing or switching to incognito does not remove it, and it is much harder for you to inspect or delete.
Because you cannot clear a fingerprint yourself, browser settings will not stop this and neither will a cookie blocker. The way to stop it is to email info@roseradford.com and ask us to, which we will action. As set out in section 2, we are working towards this running only for people who have agreed to it.
6. Changing your mind
- Email info@roseradford.com. This is the route that covers everything described in this policy, including the fingerprinting in section 5. We will remove you from our advertising audiences and keep you out of them.
- Opt out of Meta's advertising in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences.
- Every browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. This limits cookie-based tracking but not fingerprinting, and may stop parts of the site working.
7. More information
How we handle the information these tools collect is set out in our privacy policy. Questions go to info@roseradford.com.
